  9. As a rule of thumb, the average monthly rent should not exceed the average weekly paycheck. This applies to the renter, and if your rent exceeds this, you ain't gonna make it without help from mommy and daddy. If the national average is too high, the country will have a hell of a lot more homeless, as well as overcrowding.
