The Republicans get into office, the economy booms, the fucking Fed's screw with the interest rates "to keep the economy in check", and we get a recession because people quit buying houses and cars. it's like clockwork. Clinton actually sucked out on his second term, as they had raised the rates to slow spending, but people kept spending money anyway. This covered his ass, but the downside was a bunch of people stuck with high-ass mortgage rates and cars they paid too much for.
