Gwyn Williams Seems to me that I've heard the same thing, that Charles is planning on using George VII as his "reigning" name (I'm sure there's a proper term for it, but you get the idea. 🙂). However, for the purposes of this play, King Charles III pretty much summarizes it. People would immediately realize that it's a play about when Charles finally becomes the King. A lot of people wouldn't necessarily make that same connection if the play was titled, King George VII .

Chaudhry Rajinder Nijjhar Jatt Uh, no. I'm not an expert in British nationality law, but I would imagine that a child born on British soil to two parents who were British citizens when he was born would be British himself. However, if you're referencing genealogy rather than citizenship, my response is still, "Uh, no." Despite having started out his life as a Greek prince, Prince Philip is of primarily German and Danish ancestry.

Chaudhry Rajinder Nijjhar Jatt Who? Prince Philip? If it's him you're referring to, my understanding is that, being a prince, he never had what you and I would consider a surname. However, when he became a naturalized British citizen before his marriage to then Princess Elizabeth, he renounced his Greek titles and had to adopt a standard surname. He chose Mountbatten because it was the surname of his closest relative in the UK.

Luka Yu The Queen's youngest grandchild is named James. But, then again, the likelihood of him inheriting the throne is very, very slim (he's currently tenth in line, I believe).

rossmcl177 Where did you get the idea I was claiming that Prince George was 10th in line when I specifically stated that it's the Queen's youngest grandson, James, who's 10th in line?

rossmcl177 We're good. 🙂

RampantFury925 Hopefully, it'll be a few more years yet before Charles has to make a definite decision.

Elizabeth Johnson I'm sure he has, hence the rumors that have been around for years indicating that he plans to be known as George VII. And if the Queen lives as long as her mother (which is looking quite likely), he'll have about another ten years to keep on thinking about it. 🙂

Elizabeth Johnston In most countries that have a Prime Minister, that person is the head of government, not head of state. The head of state in those countries is either a president (like France) or a monarch (like Canada).
