I haven't been following this story that closely, so I probably missed it, but if the captain knew Italy wasn't going to welcome her ship, why didn't she try to go somewhere else?

@hcwcars1 Regardless of whether one thinks she's a criminal or a humanitarian, it puzzles me why she was determined to reach Italy when there were other ports she could've sailed to which would've allowed the ship to dock.
