Allow what? People to discuss who they plan on voting for and why?
1
That was a nice gesture.

There's plenty of doom and gloom videos on VOA's channel to make the Schadenfreude bubble up within you.
1
You haven't checked out the rest of this channel, nor listened to or watched the actual VOA service, have you?
1
@rohanforbes605 In other words, the answer is, "No, I haven't watched any of the other videos on this channel, nor have I ever listened to or watched the actual VOA service".
1
@rohanforbes605 Every news outlet has its share of fluff pieces like this one. If you want to judge its news content, then actually watch or listen to its news content.
1
@rohanforbes605 There's no need to get vulgar.
1
@redactedredactd5554 Not to mention a good portion of the area surrounding the ship.
1
@guff9567 You definitely are.
1
And that affects you, how?

Here are a couple of things I'd like to see in the next election's debates: (1) The mics be muted when a candidate either goes over her/his allotted time or doesn't answer the question that's being asked. (2) All candidates who are on the ballot in enough states to theoretically win the presidency are invited to participate.

@the82spartans62 I double checked myself. Omar's mother passed away before the family moved to the US, but Omar came here with her father and grandfather while still a child. Even though I may have had the exact family members wrong, I still stand by my original point that, as a child, Omar wasn't in a position to tell her elders that she didn't want to move to the US.
1
@the82spartans62 So why hasn't she been investigated? After all, those who make accusations surely must have tangible proof that has been turned over to the applicable law enforcement agencies.
1
Unless you're 100% Native American, at least one of your ancestors came over to the US because of problems in his/her country. Why didn't those people stay and fix the problems there instead?
1
Nothing against Johnson personally, but haven't we learned our lesson about electing people whose only qualification is that they've been on TV?
1
Sounds like it to me.
1
Not in this case.
1
Thanks for the info. I was wondering how in the world that happened.
1
@TheFreddyEduard I'm no expert in physics, but the only thing I can think of is that the train landed just right so that the bulk of its weight wasn't being supported by the sculpture.

At the time the decision to bring down the other half of the building was made, it was uncertain if Elsa was going to affect the Miami area. If the storm was going to head that way, there was concern that the remaining part of the building would collapse while searchers were looking for bodies, not to mention the extra debris on top of the original debris that would have to be sifted through afterwards. You may be right as to the collapse hindering the investigation, but the protection of human life and retrieving the bodies for their families as quickly as possible should take precedence.

In the time it took you to click and comment on this video, you could've found and watched one that was more to your liking.

The Electoral College can be modified or replaced by another electoral process via a Constitutional amendment.
1
@officerminiwheats I do think a national conversation about the Electoral College is necessary, but that wasn't the point of my original post. I was letting Black Tar know that, if needed, the process by which we elect presidents can be legally changed.
1
You do realize that VOA is a US government sponsored media outlet, don't you?
1
It's "big news" because earthquakes of that magnitude don't occur frequently in New York City.
1
It's not the system that's broken, it's the people within the system.
1
@onlyonezay419 If a specific law serves no purpose, then it should be amended or repealed. Just because it was created 200 plus years ago doesn't automatically mean it has no relevance. Look at laws against murder, for example. The first laws against murder were more than likely passed in what would become the US ages before we even broke away from Britain. Should we scrap those just because they're around 300 years old?
1
@onlyonezay419 Are you seriously saying that it should be legal to murder people?
1
@onlyonezay419 The way I understood it was that you believe that every law that was drawn up pre-21st century should be scrapped. While I do agree that laws should be reviewed periodically to make sure they're still relevant, I don't agree that laws should be invalidated only because they are old. (If you wish to be formal, it's "ma'am". 🙂)

If Trump's plan goes into effect, I don't see it having a negative effect on hospitals and clinics hiring from other countries if no Americans are qualified for and want those jobs.
1
I don't think the family of the man who was killed are laughing.
1
I'm sure there are plenty of math teachers, just not any who want to work for that school district.
1
I presume you've submitted your evidence that this fire was deliberate to the Navy investigators already?
1
Which has what to do with former President Carter celebrating his 100th birthday?
1
So military and diplomatic personnel stationed in foreign countries shouldn't have the right to vote?
1
@michaelmiller7786 Biden may win, but it won't be by a landslide.
1
nofirethanks To have an equivalent result to Reagan's 1984 win, the only two states Biden could win are Delaware and DC (a "state" for Electoral College purposes). I don't see that scenario happening because I just can't envision Trump winning New York and California (especially the latter).
1
nofirethanks I pretty much compare all Presidential elections to 1984 so, again, unless whoever wins has a result that is equivalent to or surpasses that, it won't be a landslide, no matter who wins.
1
nofirethanks Unless an objective body comes out with a formal definition of a presidential landslide victory, I'm sticking with my definition, which states that a candidate has to win with a result equivalent to or surpassing Reagan's 1984 victory.
1
nofirethanks Since I can't seem to find this alleged "Nobel Committee of International Elections", I will stick to my definition of a landslide, thanks.
1
nofirethanks Since you're the one claiming such a committee exists, it's on you to prove it.

For an outlet that's funded by the US government, it's news reporting usually is fairly neutral. Some of their weekend news panel programs, however, do seem to lean a little left.
1
Who said the people in the video are here illegally?

But Columbus was the catalyst for mass European migration to the Americas.
1
@kingklank6732 I'm not saying that Columbus was any better or worse than Vikings, just stating a fact that it was Columbus' voyages that got the ball rolling for Europeans to actually come to the Americas and settle instead of visit.

The citizenship question hasn't been on the form that everyone is supposed to fill out since 1950. Yes, it has been on the more detailed questionnaires since then, but those don't go out to everybody and, if I'm understanding Trump's wishes correctly, he wants to ask everyone in the US about their citizenship status.
1
The app seems better than nothing, but it bothers me somewhat that the father doesn't know how to sign.
1
@robinparkes6314 Maybe I just think differently than others, but if I was going to rig this election, I'd also make sure the Senate flipped to a Democratic majority. No point in having Biden win if he's going to have to fight a Republican Senate for four years.
1
@Filthy_Goblin_44 Slightly going off topic, but most of those trying to get across our southern border now are from Central America, not Mexico.
