  1. Omar was brought to the US as a child. It's not like she could've said to her parents, "No, thanks. I'll stay here in Somalia by myself instead of moving to the US."

  2.  @the82spartans62  I double checked myself. Omar's mother passed away before the family moved to the US, but Omar came here with her father and grandfather while still a child. Even though I may have had the exact family members wrong, I still stand by my original point that, as a child, Omar wasn't in a position to tell her elders that she didn't want to move to the US.
