+ImTwoCents That's what's always intrigued me about elections in countries like Canada and the UK: how does someone vote if he/she prefers Party A's candidate for MP, but doesn't want Party A's leader to be PM?

iiMagic MSP So no one in Canada has ever faced a situation like, let's say, preferring a Conservative candidate for MP of his/her riding, but really doesn't want whoever the Conservative leader is at the time to become PM? Or vice versa: Canadian voter wants the leader of the Liberals to become PM, but can't stand the Liberal candidate running for MP of his/her riding.

+Ryan Dylan I know many of my fellow American citizens have barely enough brains to string together one coherent thought per day, but I think quite a few of us did notice that not all the facts presented were about Trudeau specifically. : )

AJ Zebadua Without looking anything up before typing this (I promise on a stack of Bibles): Ottawa, in the province of Ontario, is the capital of Canada. If I'm interpreting "subnational geopolitical division" as you meant it, Canada is divided up into ten provinces and three territories (not entirely sure about the number of territories). The Canadian head of state is officially Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. However, she is represented by a Governor General. Yes, the United States isn't officially a democracy. We were set up to be a democratic republic. And it's very true that quite a few of my fellow citizens wouldn't know any of the above, especially the bit about the US not being a pure democracy.
