This is the first I heard about Charles not being allowed to marry Camilla back in the 70s because she was Catholic (also first I heard that she was ever a member of that church). The reason I've always read and heard was that Camilla wasn't considered a suitable future Princess of Wales at the time was that her pedigree wasn't prestigious enough and she slept around.

@brandylikedadrink2778 Camilla was married when she and Charles were seeing each other during his marriage in the 1980s and 90s, but she wasn't married when they were seeing each other in the 1970s. If Camilla couldn't have kids, please explain the existence of Tom Parker Bowles and Laura (Parker Bowles) Lopes (Camilla's children with her first husband, Andrew Parker Bowles)?

@darrenheapy1265 I'm not saying Diana didn't cheat as well, just pointing out that Charles and Camilla's love story isn't as the then Archbishop of Canterbury said during Charles and Diana's wedding, "... the stuff of which fairy tales are made."

@Frankie5Angels150 For starters, Charles and Camilla didn't even meet each other until 1970, when they were in their early 20s. And even if they did have a child out of wedlock, that child is not the "true heir" to the British throne as illegitimate children are excluded, even if the parents eventually marry.

@melissawillard6600 Not when she and Charles first started seeing each other in the 1970s. Camilla married her first husband in 1973, after it had been made clear that Charles couldn't marry her.
