  1. Actually, the plastic lips are probably one of the more practical things on this list. When I initially learned CPR back in the 90's, we were given mouth guards to protect us from any contagions that the victim could've been carrying. And, if I'm remembering correctly, we were told that they were standard equipment in an EMT's kit.
