+Steven Torrey That's funny. Unfortunately, if you're speaking to someone under the age of about 35, he/she won't know what the William Tell Overture or the Lone Ranger was.

+2kol4scool It would be interesting to see how many children over the years ended up developing a love for classical music because they heard quite a bit of it in Looney Tunes cartoons.

Rhapsody in Blue is a toughie to classify. My personal opinion (which is based on having no academic musical knowledge whatsoever) is that it's a hybrid: a blend of classical and jazz. I would imagine that classical music purists / snobs wouldn't consider any of Gershwin's works as being anything close to classical.

+Botchamania JEEZUS I think WatchMojo was using the broad definition of "classical".

I would wager that most of my generation or a bit older first heard most of these on a Looney Tunes / Merrie Melodies cartoon.

slapmyfunkybass The Lone Ranger was a radio program which later became a TV series. The hero was a Texas Ranger who was left for dead in an ambush and saved by a Native American named Tonto. The two would travel around fighting bad guys. The theme tune was the "William Tell Overture".
