shiva1008 Unless you're a Presidential trivia buff, the number of people who show up for an inauguration is irrelevant. How is democracy threatened or enhanced by turnout?
Like I mentioned in my original post, nationwide popular vote has no bearing on who's elected President. Is the Electoral College the most fair system? I don't think so, but neither do I want the highest office in the country elected by a simple plurality.
Actually, the fact that so many people showed up for that protest reinforces that our democracy, although far from perfect, is still breathing.
No argument from me on points 4, 6, and 7. It still makes me want to bang my head against a wall to think that people actually voted for Trump despite all the obvious indicators that he was not qualified to be President (didn't want Clinton, either, by the way).
I tried to be a point 5, but it was like talking to a brick wall whenever I tried to point out examples of points 4, 6, and 7. The really sad part is most of the people I discussed this with thought those examples were assets instead of liabilities.
