I'm sure the parents meant well, but I doubt this will change anything. After all, if the massacre of 20 little children in 2012 didn't get legislators to wake up, I'm not sure what will.

Maybe I'm just more paranoid than most people like Keen, but if I was or had been a public figure (especially one who represented a controversial issue), I'd double check all invitations for speaking engagements. Instead of a publicity stunt, this could've ended up with Keen dead.

Because the US is being hypocritical in its insistence that the embargo is tied to a lack of democracy and human rights in Cuba. There are numerous other countries who are under similar political conditions as Cuba (the country that owns and runs this very YouTube channel being a good example), yet the US doesn't impose embargoes against them.

In my opinion, two things: (1) Obama started the process of opening up diplomatic relations and relaxing some of the rules regarding Americans traveling to and doing business with Cuba. Trump seems determined to dismantle anything that Obama did during his administration. (2) As the video pointed out, Trump believes that the Cuban-Americans in Miami want him to crack down on all interactions with Cuba. And the older members of that community tend to vote Republican.

@mrmakeembreakitdown Thank you. 🙂

0:21-- I can't help but feel that this Texans for Vaccine Choice group might be more interested in making money than promoting a cause.

Red Flag laws seem like a good idea in theory, but before I would support them, I want answers to these questions: Who will determine if the gun owner is a legitimate threat? What criteria will be used to determine that? What will the gun owner need to do to prove that he/she is no longer a threat or never was a threat in the first place? What will prevent disgruntled neighbors, friends, family, etc..., from making a false report against a gun owner?

Every time I see DeSantis now, I think of a quote from the Classic Era of Doctor Who: "You know, the very powerful and the very stupid have one thing in common. They don't alter their views to fit the facts. They alter the facts to fit their views. Which can be uncomfortable if you happen to be one of the facts that need altering."

I've always been against government support of private schools, but from the opposite end of the debate. If private schools want to stay private, they shouldn't be accepting government money.

I'd like to see how many people answer, "None of Abbott's effin' business."

If we're going to keep the Electoral College, what I'd like to see is a proportional distribution of electors. That means that each candidate receives a portion of the electors based on what percentage of the statewide popular vote she/he received. For example, look at my state of Florida this year. It has 29 Electoral College votes. Under current rules, since Trump won the state, he received all 29 votes. Under my proposal, since Trump won 51.2% of the statewide popular vote and Biden won 47.9%, they would receive 15 and 14 electors, respectively.

@GLORYNEVADASMITH That's what irks me about US foreign policy towards Cuba. Countries like China, Saudi Arabia, Russia, et al., enjoy full diplomatic and trade relations with us and you know they aren't stellar examples of respecting human rights.
2
SantiagoDeTortillas No argument there, but it seems hypocritical that the US targets Cuba for its horrible human rights record when we do business and have diplomatic relations with many other countries whose records are just as bad.

And how much money is this school board going to waste, again, changing the names back to where they were in the first place?
1
@GenXCollieLover If you're not a Trump supporter, why are you using their language?
1
True, but if not enough people use this train service to justify the company's investment and operating costs, then Brightline isn't going to make a profit.
1
Which has what to do with the topic of this video?
1
You're just now realizing that this is a Chinese government channel even though the disclaimer under the video screen has been there for about a year or so?
1
And how "calm" do you think the "masses" would remain if the conviction was overturned?
1
@beardpapa7306 There's always the possibility that the verdict could be thrown out on appeal, but what would the Supreme Court have to do with it? It's not a criminal court. It's supposed to resolve questions of constitutionality.
1
@laughingsheep I would imagine that there were some people there, like a sound technician and/or someone representing the "school". And obviously someone was recording the speech rehearsal or else we wouldn't be seeing this video. Any one of those people could've gotten close enough to Keen to kill him.
1
@BobBles-Bussum How he could be killed isn't the issue as far as I'm concerned. I've seen too many public figures in the past few years who agree to do things for people they obviously don't vet and it turns out to be a prank (best recent example is Rudy Giuliani unwittingly becoming part of the Borat 2 movie). My point is that these public figures need to be more careful as to who they agree to meet up with and what they agree to do. One day, one of them will end up dead.

"Disney's Magic Kingdom will open its doors on July 11.Its animal parks including SeaWorld, Discovery Cove and Aquatica will also open doors on July 15." Disney doesn't own the latter three parks. They belong to SeaWorld Entertainment Inc.
1
What makes you think he can accomplish in a second term what he couldn't accomplish in the first one?
1
Maybe there's a story on the main CGTN YouTube channel. This is CGTN America.
1
He said he didn't want to be part of that life anymore.
1
"MY love and greetings to Him and his family!" Capitalizing "him" usually means you're referring to God or Jesus. So I guess you're saying Tr--p is your god.
1
I wouldn't want to be buying Boeing airplanes right now.
1
It seems perfectly clear now. Trump's having a temper tantrum over losing. As if he's saying, "If I'm not the one being sworn in, I'm not going! So there!"
1
@kennyng2289 There are, but the vast majority of voters here in the US have been brainwashed into believing that voting for a third party or true independents will allow the "bad" mainstream party to win. For example, if someone's views draw her/him to the Green Party, Democrats will say that if that person votes for Greens, it'll take votes away from Democrats and allow Republicans to get into office.

Your actions aren't matching your words.
1
What business is it of Russia's if Ukraine joins NATO or not? As much as Putin and his ilk may think otherwise, no Western government is the least bit interested in overthrowing him.
1
In the US legal system, to convict someone of murder, you have to prove that the suspect planned ahead to kill the victim. On the surface, this doesn't sound like the case.
1
Unless you're also in favor of imposing embargoes against the 40+ countries (including the one that owns and runs this very YouTube channel) that have similar records regarding a lack of democracy and human rights. you're just being hypocritical.
1
I just left a complementary post on another video about how professional CGTN is, then I see this video apparently shot by someone from Tik Tok. 🤦🏻♀️
1
True, Ford was not elected, but he did become President according to the procedure set forth in the Constitution. And when he did run for a full term of his own, he wasn't elected, so he moved on.
1
You're just now learning that CGTN is owned and operated by the Chinese government? Even though the caption underneath the video screen states that quite unambiguously?
1
There may not be too many of them still alive.
1
None of the other leaders' names were translated into English, so why refer to the King of Spain as "Philip" when his name is Felipe?
1
This needed to be longer so it could go into more detail.
1
The trial hasn't started yet.
1
I don't see how face masks can be viable at Aquatica. They're going to be soaking wet after one slide.
1
I can't imagine a store having to limit how many packages of eggs customers can buy. The price itself enforces limits quite well.
1
@rayray2613 Nothing since this video isn't about either topic.
1
Unless there are powerful people in the Chinese government who are as dumb as rocks, why would China deliberately try to kill current and potential customers for the products made in its country?
