  5. If I understood this ruling correctly, your hypothetical baker can't refuse to do business at all with a customer solely based on the customer's religion. However, if the only thing the baker is refusing to do is decorate a cake with a Christian themed message, that's not considered discrimination.

  14. Because, traditionally, Sinn Fein has been a radical anti-British political party. For example, if someone from that party is elected to a Northern Irish seat in the UK Parliament, that person usually refuses to take up that seat because she/he refuses to swear allegiance to the monarch.

  30. The First Amendment to the US Constitution only guarantees that the government won't prevent anyone from or punish anyone for exercising their right to free speech. It doesn't compel private companies like YouTube to provide a platform for your speech.

  46.  @arfermo853  I'm not arguing for or against a new referendum. I'm just curious if there was serious talk about the possibility of Brexit in 2014 and if that influenced how Scottish people voted on the independence referendum of that year.

  47.  @arfermo853  Sounds exactly like what happened here in Florida back in 2018. We had a vote on whether or not ex-felons should automatically receive their voting rights back once they've completed their sentences. It passed, but our less-than-esteemed governor and legislature decided to be really nitpicky on what "completing the sentence" meant. Most voters understood it to be prison and parole time and nothing more, but the powers that be decided to have it include any monies owed by the ex-felon which, for many of them, is simply impossible.
