Look, I despise Trump as much as anyone, but Trump not paying much in US income tax over the past 15 years shouldn't make Americans angry with Trump; it should make Americans angry with Congress. Congress is the body that sets the tax laws, including the bits that allow people and businesses to reduce their tax bills.

@shimmyshams8056 If you want to be mad at Trump for using legal means to reduce his tax bill, that's your prerogative, but in principle, he's not doing anything that every other American that files a tax return doesn't do. He just has larger numbers than the average American. This doesn't mean that I agree that we should have all these deductions, loopholes, and whatnot in our tax code, but as long as they are there, I don't begrudge anyone for using them, as long as it's done legally.

@shimmyshams8056 I don't consider taxation to be a moral issue. It's one of the few things in life that's pretty straightforward. You pay what's required by the current laws of the land or face financial and/or criminal penalties.
