If I misunderstood, someone please correct me, but is the reason these officers aren't testifying in person is because they're claiming they're traumatized? If so, that's a load of baloney sauce. If the families, who lost loved ones, can show up, so can they.

That was how I interpreted it. I don't know the Canadian rules and/or laws governing inquiries like this one, but if possible, those officers should be forced to appear under penalty of contempt (or whatever Canada calls it when a person disobeys a court or government summons). If the families of the victims can manage to show up in person, so can the officers.

I'm American and I remember it, mainly because unlike here, a rampage like that seems to be pretty rare in Canada.

Canada is a separate country. It doesn't follow the US Constitution, therefore there is no Second Amendment it has to deal with.
