  1. One thing I want to mention. When you said that you can correlate a society's wealth to their adherence to rule of law, you may have the cause and effect backwards. A society which grows excessively bureaucratic may see many people lose respect for law and authority. As the authorities in charge become decedent and corrupt and abuse their authority, many people simply stop following the law, leading to general chaos and destruction of wealth.
