  1. That's what price controls are. It's diet socialism. It doesn't work. We'd have these drugs already if it wasn't for price controls and heavy regulation. The reason why big pharma has a monopoly is because the government effectively bans generic drugs in order to protect corporate profits. Get rid of the import bans, de-regulate medicine, and you'll have more and cheaper drugs, but that would harm the monopoly that the large corporations have, so it won't happen because our politicians are owned by the drug companies.

  2.  @rpena0899  Nobody works for free. Nobody will ever make medicine for free. You have two options for how to get medicine. Either pay for it out of pocket, or we have the government tax us and pay for our medicine collectively. You can support either system, but in neither case is medicine "free".
