  2.  @loveinthemidst5841  You can literally find images on the internet showing far away buildings and ships which are partially obscured by the curvature of the earth. As a matter of fact, images taken with a high zoom lens of buildings across the English channel have the bottom of those buildings obscured, and some of the shorter, single story buildings are obscured entirely. Refusing to accept information that does not support your point of view just makes you ignorant, you'll never learn anything new living like that.

  3.  Easy Power Plan  'current power plants do not use fuel' Um... What? Coal power plants use coal. Nuclear plants use uranium or plutonium. Natural gas plants use flammable gas. Heck, even geothermal uses stored energy at the Earth's core as 'fuel', and yes, that is a finite (albeit vast) resource. There is no such thing as free energy, every source of power needs a source, or a fuel.

  4. @Nicholas Marashio Nuclear is scary because it occasionally causes a lot of harm all at once. Other power sources tend to kill much larger numbers of people gradually. But even if we assume that reactors being built today are just as dangerous as they were 40+ years ago, they are still far safer than fossil fuels which kill millions of people annually due to pollution. Additionally, as was covered in this videos, we have new reactor designs that promise to be not only far more efficient, but much safer as well.

  8. @ShaunDoesMusic Yeah, unfortunately most people don't speak the language of science. People don't know what a 'reasonable degree of scientific certainty' is. Even if you bring out actual numbers, it doesn't help much. Statistics can be very deceiving, so the honest are at a severe disadvantage when using statistics to back up to their claim compared to those willing to bend and abuse the numbers to look more favorable while still technically not being a lie.

  14. that story actually reminds me a lot of the last year of my life... every time i try to turn it around, something else goes wrong. sometimes something is stolen from me (my truck, my money, my electronics, etc.) or sometimes it's just plain bad luck. more than once i thought i caught a break, but hope was always snatched away from me at last second. i'm hoping that soon i'll be able to change the course of my life.

  16. well, this video isn't wrong, but i don't really like how it's presented. your wait staff isn't some greedy goblin trying to take all of your money, they're some poor sucker trying to make a living off of table scraps. i know this from experience. i've seen pretty waitresses make four times what i did on any given day. my hourly wage of $2.30 was cut in half by the restaurant taking my meals out of my paycheck, regardless if i ever ate there. now, making less than two dollars per hour, i would make between $30 and $40 in tips on a 10 hour shift. this is the same restaurant that refused to let me work more than 4 days per week, but would call me in randomly to cover other shifts, preventing me from picking up an additional job. as for cooks not being tipped... i would agree with that being wrong, except that NOT having to live off of tips is a godsend. cooks get an actual living wage, or at least closer to one than any wait staff.

  21. i haven't had any friends for about a year now. most people don't interest me. that may change soon, as i have been meeting up with a few folks lately doing one of the few outdoorsey sport activities i genuinely enjoy. my obsessions with history and science, and my love of rick and morty, the expanse and various indie video games are not great pathways to finding new friends. but when you're on the paintball field, giving cover fire for your teamates as you take turns pushing up, you know for sure that the guys and girls around you all enjoy at least one of the same things that you do.
