Yes, the first two movies were better. That being said, this movie is much better than I expected it to be. Yes, it runs on nostalgia, and yes, sometimes characters do stupid things to drive the plot. That being said, it's more good than bad, and I'm willing to overlook the negative parts of it because they got a lot of things right, and the film was overall enjoyable. It relies on a few too many of the same tropes as the first two in the series, but it's just different enough to be its own movie. For example, the scene where the characters have to navigate acid blood in zero G was very creative. As a bonus, there is no hint of modern politics in this movie arguably with the exception of the casting. Still, the actors were alright overall, and I feel comfortable calling this the third best Alien movie to date. I'd recommend it for Aliens fans, or for anyone who enjoys horror movies.

Alien Romulus is in the same place as Rouge One. After a disasterous series of sequels to a popular franchise, finally something decent gets put out. It's not quite as good as the original, but it's leagues better than anything else recent, and I'm willing to acknowledge its existence, unlike all the other recent additions to the respective franchises.

It was good enough to be enjoyable. 3rd best of an excellent franchise isn't bad. Just pretend the 4th, 5th and 6th best don't exist, it's better that way.

It's above average by modern standards. It's like the Prequel trilogy of Star Wars. It has its merits, but it doesn't quite measure up to the original thing. They certainly played it safe by relying on nostalgia, but it was still a passable Alien movie, one that I'm not ashamed to count as a part of the franchise.

Not an A rank movie, but good enough to be enjoyable. It did just enough unique things to be worth watching alongside the first two.

@redrox3312 It's not exactly an all time classic, but it's better than 90% of the hot garbage we get these days. It's a step in the right direction.

It could have been much worse. That's high praise by today's standards. Of course it's not as good as the first two movies, but so few things even come close these days.

I wouldn't call it brilliant, but it was a solid movie, at least by modern standards. I wished they broke from the formula slightly more than they did, but then again, I can't blame them for playing it safe considering how poorly it went last time they tried that. The best part of this movie was the lack of modern politics shoehorned into it. These days, that alone is worth commending.

Damn, that really was the best movie of the franchise. Romulus was good, but it's just not quite as good as the first two. Those two are true classics.

Agreed, that line really didn't land. They relied a bit too much on nostalgia to carry an admittedly decently put together movie. At least it feels like a proper Alien movie.
