  1. Get the government out of business. Big industry lobbyists will ensure that any regulation passed will only enforce monopolies, not increase market competition. Also, stop subsidizing big industry with taxpayer money.

This highly regulated environment has created a monopoly where a handful of corporations use anti competitive practices to maintain their market share and have lobbyists who make sure the government protects their monopoly. The solution is to ask the government to make more regulation. Maybe some price controls. If that doesn't work, just nationalize the whole industry. After all, a monopoly can't form if the government runs the entire industry and it is illegal to operate without the government's permission.
