  1. how to avoid another american civil war: 1. promote moderation on both sides of the political spectrum instead of extremism. the internet makes it easy for extremists to find evidence to further their points of view, governing algorithms behind sites such as youtube and google could be modified to promote less biased opinions over heavily biased ones. 2. institute a universal basic income. this system would replace unemployment financial aid, and would allow jobless americans to survive without removing any incentive to seek a job. universal basic income is essentially government financial aid that is not lost upon finding a job. 3. continue to protect freedom of speech. any effort made to limit freedom of speech will cause public outcry and further divide sides against one another.
