The only reason I know about this specific pattern of early STG rifle existing is because in a certain WWII strategy game, German infantry in a very narrow time period have a very small chance to spawn with it instead of an MP40 or STG44. I've played this game for several years, and only just noticed that this unusual early pattern rifle exists in it.
