  1. Personally, I'm very comfortable and happy in my home countries, however I love to travel (but not as a typical tourist). I often stay abroad for several months or years, to have a more authentic and immersive learning experience. Plus time to make real friends and learn the language, culture, history, current events, etc. And often to work and volunteer, sharing unique or needed skills and experience with others who can benefit. In simpler words, a "visitor" who is imbedded/involved in the local community(s).

  7. Expats typically intend to it to be a longer stay, but only a temporary residence (rather than a tourist visit); and they intend to leave the place sooner or later. Immigrants intend to reside long term, usually with a desire to stay permanently and become a citizen.
