  1. Michelle Lioness The New Testament really isn’t authoritarian. It has a god you must obey but all people are equal under it. Jesus could arguably be described as a protocommunist. The problem isn’t the religion itself, but the structures that sprang about because of it.

  2. Michelle Lioness Hell is a late addition to biblical theology - it’s not actually anywhere in the bible unless you use some very loose interpretation. “My” god? Who said I’m a Christian?

  3. Michelle Lioness A lake of fire mentioned in revelations is still a far cry from what Hell is commonly viewed as. A less biased interpretation would be those souls simply being destroyed instead of tortured, which isn’t really different from just not getting an afterlife. Make of that what you will, but it’s not exactly what westerners call Hell.
