The only difference is that the mistakes made back then didn't have dire global consequences, 2. Clearing out the Amazon will almost certainly make the earth uninhabitable, starting with Brazil itself. Deforesting the Amazon will almost certainly spell the end of Earth's habitability and the end of the human race. Not just the white race, or the yellow race or the black race, but the human race. If "nobody" is deforesting the Amazon, then what the fuck were you insinuating with Brazil's right to "use its natural resources". The context was clearly the Amazon's deforestation, so that's the only "natural resource" that you could be defending the right to use. You're either a liar or a dumbass At the very least, if you're willing to lie about deforestation, I can put you down as No - you don't want the amazon deforested? I can't imagine you'd be pro-human extinction unless you don't think Brazilians are human.

If the US could be trusted, I'd say they should try annexing the Amazon and establish a Korean DMZ-style border around it. They do not currently possess nuclear weapons, and the countries that do seem to agree that letting the amazon burn is a really bad idea, so it's not completely nuts and it would've been better than just sitting around and waiting to drown and/or suffocate.

@phamdoug I meant that the burnings and stonewalling of climate mitigation is facilitated by fascists, regardless of nationality. If these self destructive actions only hurt the fascists I'd be pointing and laughing at this, heck i'd probably send them tools to help them commit ecological suicide faster. Their actions however have consequences for the innocents worldwide, which includes inside Brazil, not to mention the natives who are directly being killed by these policies.

@HarryS77 Honestly if i had any say, I'd pay it to buy some time, then try to get as many countries to agree on annexing the entire Amazon by force and create a Korean DMZ style border around it, or at least separate it from the psychopaths in Brazil

Walter De wit Excuse me? The industrial revolution has its origins in Europe and the US, but all of humanity took advantage of it. You pretend as if the only people who ever used fossil fuels the past 150 years are white people. Whites got the ball rolling and they contribute more than their fair share but that doesn't mean everyone else can ignore their CO2 emissions. The world wasn't locked down this path to destruction until the 2000s, the Earth wasn't magically doomed the moment someone made a fuel powered engine. Perhaps you'd be fine with this wretched species being wiped off the face of the Earth, I'm slowly coming to that point of view too, but the current crisis is world shattering for anyone who care's about the future of humanity.
