  2.  @ganjguy Yeah for real. Until like a couple months ago I legit thought they were just talking about one of those bad singing tv shows for some reason. I know it’s supposed to be an advisory body but I don’t understand what that’s supposed to accomplish or literally anything more specific than that. And the few times I’ve asked I’ve gotten either shrugs or an arrogant cajoling for “having my head in the sand”.

  4. K LaCoste Not the ones in government, clearly. They just want to sell Australia off and protect their mates. And technology wouldn’t be so much of a problem if the same fundies wouldn’t stonewall any progress towards green tech and sustainability.

  6. Honestly I think this is more a “never attribute malice where incompetence suffices” sort of thing. It’s not so much that it’s meant to be a distraction as is they vastly underestimated how partisan this would be. Plus how poorly your average Joe and Andy would respond to a referendum with at best abstract objectives, when they’re worried about how they’re going to afford next months rent.

  7. Vital Logic Scientists have repeatedly shot down any notion that the sun is causing climate change for decades. It simply isn’t true. And even if it was we still desperately need climate mitigation strategies, which the right still refuses to acknowledge.
