@ganjguy Yeah for real. Until like a couple months ago I legit thought they were just talking about one of those bad singing tv shows for some reason. I know it’s supposed to be an advisory body but I don’t understand what that’s supposed to accomplish or literally anything more specific than that. And the few times I’ve asked I’ve gotten either shrugs or an arrogant cajoling for “having my head in the sand”.

@underdoug I think you have to at least mark the paper to not get fined. Which is why drawing dicks on ballots is such a cherished Aussie pastime

Honestly I think this is more a “never attribute malice where incompetence suffices” sort of thing. It’s not so much that it’s meant to be a distraction as is they vastly underestimated how partisan this would be. Plus how poorly your average Joe and Andy would respond to a referendum with at best abstract objectives, when they’re worried about how they’re going to afford next months rent.
