I genuinely believe that it should be allowed to perform unethical human experimentation on the "men" who did that to her. Animals are innocent, that filth isn't.

Yeah stay the fuck away from Scientologists. They are actively malicious and will do anything to get their hooks in you. Don't talk to them, but if you do don't give them your name.

Gary sells his bathwater on the side to help fund his cult.

Wendigoons a Sunday teacher?

@weltgeist2143 Wendigoon is a deep cover Jreg character and this is centricide season 2

@deuser In my experience, it's usually anti-LGBT content that gets christians banned, not "talking about God". Maybe you consider those stances inseparable from your faith, but it's dishonest to say it's just because they're christian.

@Slenderquil IMO I don't think they did. I've checked out a few people finders just to see how much they have on me - all the good ones are locked behind a paywall IIRC. I don't think an organisation as greedy as Scientology would fork out that much just to harrass an old potential recruit.

@Spewb it doesn’t say they were going to kill him, it just says they were making fun of him. And i can’t help but think that an omnipotent universe creator could think of a better solution, like turn Elisha to stone or something.

I'm an atheist, but what I think Wendigoon does right is that he talks about his religion without trying to sell it to nonbelievers. Nobody likes being advertised to, it felt disingenuous when I attended a youth group in high school (I was still sort of a Christian back then) and it feels disingenuous now. What people do like is someone talking about things they're passionate for, that kinda thing is infectious and inherently interesting.

I’m an atheist and I’m probably never coming back, but wendigoons way of explaining the Bible the same way a nerd raving about their favourite book would is so compelling. Like it’s not a sales pitch, it’s just someone walking you through something they’re passionate about. It’s infectious.

@Spewb I think it’s still messed up to maul a bunch of people for making fun of someone.

They finally took down the Wario Apparition huh

@Gamfluent They sorta downplayed they were a youth group. When I heard about it, it just seemed like something you could do on Fridays, and there was basically no mention of Jesus stuff until the end of the night. I didn’t like it at all, but I was also a lonely teen so I tolerated it and kept going for a while. Looking back, I think this was common (at least where I lived) because being really Jesus-y was considered uncool, so they did this to get teens in the door.
3
@collinblatchford Okay but to intentionally downplay it then spring it on someone (particularly vulnerable teenagers) at the end is pretty slimy and manipulative. I'd suspect you'd agree if someone of another faith did that to you, even with the exact same motivation.
3
For me, I like his Bible stuff because I like history and anthropology, and he most importantly he doesn't try to use it as a sales pitch. He just talks about these Bible stories and what he likes about them. I'm not even a Christian, but history and literary analysis are like catnip to me.

@Gamfluent lmao my reply to this has been hidden, despite it being completely polite. thanks youtube very cool

You track them down and punch them in the face, but they use that as currency too.

Such a tragedy for this poor young man to self-delete.

The Ethics Committee isn't as much of a joke as it seems. It's just stuck with the unenviable job of finding the least fucked up way of containing inherently fucked up objects. Sort of like an endless series of the Trolley Problem

This is probably going to be a hot take but Waco has always been conflicting on me. You've basically got a "He said, she said" situation between two armed groups with every reason in the world to lie. Feds are liars but so is the cult. That being said, the ATF deserved all the shit they got for this.

Chaos banking just sounds like crypto with extra steps.

@Gamfluent This whataboutism is common, but really lame. Simple fact is that Christianity has far more political and cultural sway than Islam in the west, so it’s naturally going to get far more scrutiny. Does Islam get less criticism than it should? Maybe, but Christianity’s always going to be the bigger target when the people in power use the Bible to justify laws everyone else finds abhorrent

@Retog I made two replies - one about youth groups and one about the christian lgbt thing. The latter was hidden.

Isn’t it effectively impossible to have full awareness in this life?

Surprised numbers stations are so deep down the iceberg, always thought they were quite a common topic in the conspiracysphere.

I think christian media suffers greatly from being stuck pandering to evangelicals and basically just being jesus-propaganda. It's honestly kind of sad, there's loads of great potential in the source material that just goes to waste because for the most part the only people making christian art are terrified of challenging their audiences at all.

I half remember this from a video I watched a while ago, but isn't there a joke lost in translation here? IIRC Philemon's name means something like "useful" in Greek so what Paul was saying was "Useful was useless to you, but now he's Useful for you and me!"
