Also, the evangelists promise up and down left and right that this is "just the beginning" and that AI is going to improve dramatically as time goes on. But I just don't see how that can happen, AI fundamentally relies on training model with massive datasets, and without an enormous processor/storage medium revolution (maybe through quantum computing if they can get that off the ground), I just don't see how it can significantly improve from where it is right now. And without that promise of future improvement it's just a janky chatbot that can kind of do some basic tasks okay if you keep an eye on it.

@wumi2419 Yeah that is hardly new. I left high school over a decade ago and I still remember job postings demanding bachelor degrees with at least 3 years experience as far as the eye can see. Whats depressing is that in some cases its even more cynical that it sounds - these companies are required to try and hire local so they purposely make these ludicrous requirements so they can shrug, say they tried and hire someone overseas for way cheaper. It's why networking is so important these days, it at least gives you some way to get around the cynical bullshit HR pulls.

@G-Cole-01 I mean yeah, they clearly have the storage capacity to run AI as it is, but my point is that if they want this to improve as dramatically as computer technology did, they either need to optimize the algorithms or increase hardware capabilities. I don't see how the former can happen when the software fundamentally relies on massive data sets and the latter can't happen without some serious hardware revolution (ie quantum computing)
