  2. One of my favorite little factoids about Mars is that while Olympus Mons is the largest mountain in the solar system, it wouldn't be that hard to hike since the incline is actually quite gentle. It'd be sort of like walking across France except uphill the entire way.

  3.  @aluisious  Fears aren’t a rational threat assessment. If they were, nobody would watch horror movies because outside an epileptic seizure from flashing lights, they pose absolutely no real danger.

  9.  @aluisious Yes those base fears make sense, but the brain often applies them in irrational ways, like a fear of flying because you're worried the plane will fall out of the sky, something that's straight up physically impossible in all but the most extreme circumstances.

  10.  @elih6087 if we’re talking objectively, you’re way, way more likely to die in a car crash than an airplane crash. Fear isn’t a rational threat assessment so people usually find the plane ride way more scary
