Then get involved. Push for nuclear change. Being on the sidelines is being useless.

The benefits of fossil fuels is completely irrelevant when they’re causing runaway warming that is slowly making the planet less habitable.
6
kroikye It’s not nonsense, it’s well understood. Something like 93% of scientists back this.
4
@ragephace Prager U constantly minimises the climate crisis. They're not a good faith actor in that regard.
3
The fossil fuels are killing the ecosystem by pouring CO2 into the atmosphere. We can’t keep them
3
@krashcash Nobody is saying that plastics aren't ubiquitous. We either need to find a way to replace them, minimise their usage or discard them entirely, we don't have a choice here.
3
@marcosluna7792 I didn't say anything about the planet being literally destroyed. However we couldn't blow it up even if we tried, if we detonated all our nukes, it'd hardly dent the thing.
3
They’re still emitting CO2 into the atmosphere raising the temperature like crazy. We simply can’t keep them without serious changes
3
JustlonoKiller They’re simply wrong then. The global average is projected to go up as high as 4 degrees by the end of the century. That doesn’t sound like much in a cushy office environment but it’ll snap the global ecosystem like a twig, and us along with it. And we don’t have until 2099 to address this. Climate change is a like progressive cancer, it gets worse and worse.
2
@krashcash That's simply not good enough. What does "individuality" matter everyone under 30 is going to deal with a progressively dying planet? You're telling them they deserve to suffer just because you want more now. And I already don't eat meat, I also rarely drive.
2
Peter B. I’m not talking about local temperatures, I’m talking about global temperatures. Meaning those local temperature will fluctuate a lot more than they already do

The Randy Lee Blain Dimension So...? We’re losing entire football fields of the Amazon regularly. Your forest doesn’t even begin to offset the out of control carbon emissions we’re facing. And it sure won’t be able to withstand the increasingly brutal summers and hurricanes we’re facing.
1
The Randy Lee Blain Dimension The Amazon is shrinking fast , so there’s less trees to eat less carbon. Just because you’ve seen some catastrophic weather means nothing, what I’m saying is increasingly catastrophic weather is becoming the new normal. I have the science on my side and what it paints is dire . Why do you think God doesn’t care if we trash the planet before he plans to enact revelations? I’d imagine that’d make him pretty furious. If the worst thing that happens in the next 2 decades is I look stupid, then frankly I’d feel great about that. We’d actually have a future then
1
The Randy Lee Blain Dimension Yes it is. The Amazon could be gone by this century, that is terrifyingly fast. Is it Gods will that the earth is heading towards +4C warming by 2100? And I don’t eat beef, its a well known carcinogen and terrible for the environment.
1
tonycatman Which is why the argument for climate action isn’t to abolish fossil fuels with no plan, but replace them with sustainable energies. +4c warming by 2100 will be disastrous to the already delicate global ecosystems.
1
tonycatman We currently rely on those ecosystems to survive. Ecological collapse will bring most of human society down with it, even if it doesn’t literally turn earth into Venus. I don’t know about you but I’d rather do anything to try and avoid collapse than be made to live through it. If you’re under 30 then I don’t see how you could relax either. I lose so much sleep thinking about what I and those younger than me will have to face.

jerryw66 Even if you are a scientist (which I doubt), you’re still in the vast scientific minority. For every one of you, there’s 9 scientists which say the opposite
1
Andrew567 No, but the truckload of evidence does. The consensus is just meant to show that for every one scientist that denies climate change, there’s 9+ scientists that don’t.
1
Andrew567 Lets say for the sake of argument that 97% has been debunked. the next estimate is about 95%, what now?
1
jerryw66 The current warming is incredibly unnatural, a mental amount of warming in a relatively short period and it’s getting worse and worse. What “advantages” there may be are vastly outweighed by the massive negatives. If there’s information on “both sides” then one side is a 10 terabyte server while the other side is a single sheet of paper. You are simply in the wrong here.
1
Terrel Brown he said unless you come up with some extraordinary evidence . Which is true, none of you have extraordinary evidence, every time you people bring up something like the cycles it’s almost immediately debunked.
1
jerryw66 Just because a cold climate is bad doesn’t mean a hot one is magically good. If it was we’d be living on Mercury. You can’t move if you can’t afford to, and you can’t sell your home because it’s going to go underwater. And even then wherever you’re going to move, the ocean will swallow it eventually. We need to do something about climate change immediately. And a warming climate is already bleaching coral reefs, and worsening desertification. Good luck surviving when your arable land is desert
1
Terrel Brown what have we been unable to debunk?
1
jerryw66 Oh so you believe climate change is real now?
1
jerryw66 And as I’ve said, the climate is warming at unprecedented rates and it has been doing so since the industrial revolution.
1
jerryw66 how far in the past are we talking?
