  3. Well, technically yes. You and I were a foetus at one point. It's ludicrously unlikely that an early term zygote, where most abortions take place IIRC, has even the most basic cognitive functions.

  4. Based God Depends, if it's early term, then that is assault, if it's late term, then that is probably murder. I think late-term abortions, when the baby is mostly formed and starting to think, should be banned outside of severe circumstances. Not thinking in black and white helps, mate.

  8. doctrinamscio The difference in ethics between aborting a zygote because you aren’t ready to be a parent and killing fully grown chickens and cows daily just so you can feed your meat addiction is mountainous. It’s not even apples and oranges, it’s apples and a dogshit argument. In fact, it works the other way. Why are you going so far out of your way to preserve the life of barely formed foetuses, yet happily kill millions of thinking feeling animals a day just for some more tasty meat?

  9. doctrinamscio The reason vegans protest egg production is because of the often horrendous factory farm conditions they’re made to live in. Tiny cages with nothing to do but eat and make eggs. Of course, some vegans consider taking eggs from the chicken to be immoral because it’s “stealing” from the chicken, but that’s because of the chickens rights, not the eggs. Please do at least some basic research on what vegans believe next time, just assuming makes you look extremely foolish.

  12. Stranded in Utah Should I preserve sperm since it has human DNA? Should women protect their eggs because of human DNA? Should I avoid killing a fly because it has blood with human DNA? If the issue is robbing potential humans of development, then females arguably do that every time they expel an egg during their period and males arguably do that every time they ejaculate without procreating, heck even if they procreate almost all of that sperm dies anyway. The reason we don’t mind the death of sperm or eggs yet would be mortified by someone taking a hatchet to a baby is because the sperm doesn’t think or feel like a baby does. It doesn’t have self preservation, it just does what it does. An early term zygote is much the same, it does little at that point but simply grow, there is little harm in preventing it from growing further, you’re arguably preventing it suffering by not letting it come to term to ill-prepared parents.

I am promoting the extinction of no group of humans or humanity itself, in fact my proposal would improve the quality of life for greater humanity, regardless of ethnicity. 2. Genocide is traditionally done to fully grown humans that are capable of thought. It is turning on fellow men who have thoughts just like you. Abortion on the other hand is done to dependent organisms who are not even capable of basic thought functions. It is little more sentient than, say, a finger. Would you consider cutting off your finger murder? 3. You still fail to explain why, by your logic, what we do to chickens or cows isn’t a genocide.

Greg Walker They are human genetically, but they do not have cognitive thought or self sustaining functions, for most of pregnancy, they’re more an extension of the body than an independent animal. You still miss the point of the chicken analogy. Chickens may not be “human”, but unlike zygotes they think and feel, both physically and emotionally, they have their own personalities too. Why are you so fine with killing these things en masse just for a tasty meal yet get bent out of shape for aborting a zygote before it becomes a baby the parents will be unable to sustain? Also, just because life’s primary function is to reproduce doesn’t make abortion a bad thing. We have, what, 8 billion people in the planet already? We’re not going to go away by lack of people reproducing. The real threats to our survival are long term: climate change, nuclear war, space phenomena. We need well raised, high quality people to try and solve these challenges and keep the human race going, and frankly you just aren’t likely to get them from ill-prepared parents forced to bring every pregnancy to term. We need quality people, not quantity, and that requires parents who want and are prepared to raise children.
