@lloyd9819 Unrelated but it’s kind of terrifying to read how common lead was. It was in cookware, pipes, glasses. They apparently even used it on purpose because it gives drink a sweet taste.

I don't really care about the competitions being rigged - most reality shows are like that. But some of the stories of working conditions on set are absolutely vile.

@Y_u_dum Sure, but of the bad things mrbeast has done, that's near the bottom IMO. I'm really not sure he'll get prosecuted on it either, he's a millionaire and youtube's golden goose, they could probably get the authorities to look the other way.

@justinkaufman495 uh no? the roman empire fell for a number of reasons, not least of which it being a plunder economy that could no longer reliably expand, as well as a lack of formal succession causing an endless civil war merry-go-round. if western society is going to fall, it'll likely be because of its overdependence on fossil fuels and the environmental damage it causes. pdf isn't even close to as normalized as it was back then - they're so reviled that a common tactic in politics is to say the other guys are either pdfs or support pdfs, and both sides do this.
