I've read that some companies use CEOs as a scapegoat for implementing changes they know will be extremely unpopular - they make the changes, people get mad at the CEO, the company makes a big show of getting them to leave while minimizing the fact that they're keeping all the changes the CEO was purportedly responsible for.

  2. I think pretty much everyone agrees it does, the main argument is over whether more capitalism or less is the solution.

  3.  @AnthonyCheeseborough  The “job market” is usually defined by those that are hiring. And guess what? CEOs run the corporations that hire most people, and guess what? CEOs think CEOs should be paid handsomely for their “service”. If you don’t see something wrong with this system, then I genuinely don’t know what to say.

  4.  @AnthonyCheeseborough  I'm not saying there's literally no market forces at play, I'm saying the levers of that market are clearly in the hands of a relative minority and they're rigging the game in their favor where they can, at the expense of the poor.
