  1. 1. Many of those monuments are relatively new, erected well after the Civil War and into the 20th-21st centuries. 2. They’re usually erected around times of racial strife, making their intent very clearly not at all about history. 3. Most of them wouldn’t even be destroyed, just moved to museums. Comparing taking down Confederate statues to the destruction of Chinese cultural artifacts is insultingly disingenuous.
