I’m an atheist but I think it’s a little tragic that “Christian film” has become synonymous with “low quality propaganda” For all Christianity’s flaws, there’s a rich cultural history that could be explored through film, but evangelicals cannot entertain serious doubt or turmoil in any way, so that severely limits the kinds of stories they can tell. The perfect example of this is how in Gods Not Dead, the atheist villain has a real (if very stupid) character arc and progression, but the Christian doesn’t.
