This is what happens when you've "got" to have a PM that "appeals to all sections of society": you end up with a PM 90% out of touch with any section of society. Sooner or later, someone's going to realise that a PM actually has to stand for something more than "play it safe" and "try not to piss too many people off".

@Kowalski_5 I think the truth is that the vast majority of people in Britain (myself included) have completely lost faith in politics and politicians. It doesn't make the slightest bit of difference who the next PM is...there's going to be no change in the issues that actually matter to the general public.

@Kowalski_5 There are SO many factors. As you say it's a crisis that's been building for decades. In a nutshell, it's all due to the loss of the British Empire; the loss of British prestige as the world's foremost economic and military power; the loss of self confidence of the British people; the loss of meaningful jobs; the loss of purpose; the humiliation of having to accept people once regarded as "inferior" as "equals" or even "superiors"; the continual squabbling over an ever diminishing pool of resources. Most of all, it's due it's due to our political class pretending that all of the above actually haven't happened, and them trying to define a new "purpose" for us that involves us becoming the "whore" and/or the "clown" of the world.
