It's been painfully obvious for at least 30 years that home appliances have a built-in lifespan. Anyone who can hack into the embedded software on this things and override the "engineered obsolescence" could make a fortune...

  2. A bunch of "God-knows-whats" have just moved into my block. Their first act? To fly-tip the previous occupant's stuff into the car park. Somehow, I'm going to have to explain to these people that they can't just dump stuff, they're going to need to pay someone to dispose of it properly. Not a prospect I'm looking forward to...

  3. Absolutely right. I often wonder what I actually get out of paying my council tax: bins that don't get emptied, non-existent police, rampant antisocial behaviour, services that you feel you've already paid for but in fact have to pay for again, and a council that is determined to build tower blocks on every square inch of available land to cram more and more immigrants in.
