I always thought Nivea was just a posh wank lubricant...

Let's hope the audience figures reach millions...obviously, "The Cancel Mob" are trying to strangle it at birth...which only proves how cowardly they are...

GB News isn't even "right wing"...it's simply "not woke". Once again, we see clear evidence of who the real Fascists are...

@DS-od1kb You've got to stick with it, dude. The only way it'll improve is if viewing figures remain good. Hopefully, their technical difficulties are only "teething troubles"!

@DS-od1kb Fair point, I guess. I personally have it on the TV not because I think it's particularly good, but because it winds the "Woke/Cancel Squad" up...which I think is reason enough...
1
@DS-od1kb Yes: being aware of how to disrupt mainstream society by feigning outrage at pretty innocuous things... I'm entirely in favour of fairness, equality and justice, but "woke" is none of these things in my opinion...
1
@DS-od1kb It's a question of how the awareness is applied: I consider "woke" to be a mechanism for identifying and hence promoting and perpetuating injustice in society, whilst hiding behind a "mask" of concern for said injustice.
1
@DS-od1kb I don't really understand your question...I object to all injustices in society....I don't consider myself remotely "woke" though...I think calling someone "woke" is something of an insult. As I mentioned, I'm all for justice and equality...to me, however, "woke" is a concept that seems very shallow and false, and far more about "virtue signalling" than actually correcting any injustice.
1
@DS-od1kb Why do we even need a term "woke"? Awareness of injustice and action against it has been around since long before there was any notion of "woke". I guess Farage's view is (and frankly, so is mine...) that "woke" is the name applied to the appearance of combatting injustice, whilst in fact its emphasis is far more its proponents feeling "virtuous" and getting "Twitter Likes" rather than actually doing good in the world. "Woke" to me is all about statue toppling and taking the knee. Grandiose (and politicised...) gestures that do absolutely nothing to help the plight of those actually suffering. Also, I think a general perception is that "woke" is strongly bound up with "cancel culture"...ie, self-righteous people getting things cancelled that they personally dislike without allowing any sensible debate on the subject...this is something that definitely needs to be tackled (I'm sure you agree), as it's contrary to the democratic, free, tolerant nature of our society. The attempt to get GB News cancelled by defunding them of advertising revenue is a good case in point.

@DS-od1kb Well, it turns out that more potential advertisers have been approaching GB News this week, so I guess someone must have some faith in them. I agree: I'm frustrated by their amateurishness and "technical difficulties". I still contend that they will improve if given a chance, however. I think it's implicit that Farage opposes racism, and so I don't suppose he feels the need to explicitly state that he opposes it. I should hope the same is true for all our politicians that get given media airtime. As far as worker's rights goes...well, that's an entire debate unto itself. I suppose the argument could be made that Farage believed he was supporting worker's rights by taking us out of the EU. Like I said...that's one for the philosophers, really...

@DS-od1kb Well yes...I suppose we do live in an era when "style" is more important than "substance" when it comes to politics. I'm afraid this is why "identity politics" is so prevalent. You're entitled to your opinion on GB News...I'm not trying to persuade you watch it. I can't watch the BBC news any more, personally...I just find the obvious agenda and disconnect with the public too much to bear. This is why I'll continue to support GB News...OK, it has an "agenda" too, but it's a different agenda from the BBC, which I feel is important for the sake of presenting a range of views.

@DS-od1kb Yes, I read The Times (I'm "old school"...I actually get the paper-and-ink version). I find it fairly politically neutral, though I'll admit I mainly get it for the crossword. I don't read The Guardian, Telegraph or Mail. I find them all far too opinionated. I occasionally get The "i". It's quite neutral, but littered with factual errors. The only "stat" I can readily quote regarding the BBC is from the whole run-up to Brexit. Someone did a head-count of all the anti-Brexit commentators versus all the pro-Brexit commentators the BBC interviewed between the time of the referendum and the actual Brexit, and found that "anti" outnumbered "pro" by about 4 to 1. I don't exactly know who Ben Shapiro is, but Andrew Neil is a very skilled and experienced interviewer, and I don't doubt he'll make mincemeat out of a lot of people who need bringing down a peg-or-two. I really hope he manages to persuade self-important shit-stirrer Owen Jones onto GB News (I doubt Owen'll do it, though...too yellow...). There's a lot of unfinished business between the two of them...
1
@DS-od1kb I won't deny that I'm not a fan of Owen Jones...he absolutely exemplifies the "mindless outrage" culture as far as I can tell. I think most of his effort is directed towards perpetuating resentment rather than healing it. Is James O'Brien on Newsnight? Like I said, I don't really watch the BBC much... There seem to be an awful lot of people in positions of influence who don't know what they're talking about these days....again, a reflection of "outrage culture" and "identity politics", I fear. It seems that "how furious" one is about an issue counts for far more that "how much one actually knows about it"...

@DS-od1kb I'll check him out some time.
