Barely over 200K (including the TA)...considerably fewer than numerous countries with much smaller populations than the UK. ...More horses than tanks in the British Army...more Admirals than ships in the Royal Navy. Anyway, it's not so much the "quantity" than the "quality" that's the major concern. I mean, can you imagine what would happen if an army of "Generation Pronouns" faced off against battle-hardened Russian troops? It doesn't bear thinking about...

  5.  @dannygaskin5806  I'm not quite sure where you think I'm from, but I am from the UK. Funding might increase under Starmer...starting from a very low base after years and years of penny pinching which started even before the Argentine war. Maybe we have got some "good tech"...but it's only as good as the people who operate it. After many years of systematic "wokeification" of our armed forces (and society in general, if I'm honest), I'm afraid I don't have a lot of faith in the troops, officers or political management of our services. Anyway, hiding behind "tech" is not the basis of a solid army. When it comes to the crunch, you need people with bollocks not button pushers.

  8. We need a huge "swamp draining" in the UK. Get rid of the "entrenched interests", the "black = white/ up = down/ weird = normal" mental gymnastics nonsense policy advocates, the "purveyors of bullsh|t" and do what's in the interests of The Nation and its People... ...let's at least try and pretend the UK is still a democracy, and run from Westminster rather than Davos.
