  3. I think the simple truth of the matter is that people of South Asian origin are less likely to whine on about perceived "racial injustices" that "other demographics", therefore the BBC doesn't feel threatened by them and feels it can safely ignore them.

There are many more black people than people of South Asian origin in the USA...This is the real driving force behind the militant black lobbying in the UK: the fact that they (completely inappropriately) import most of the "ideology" from America. South Asian Americans just don't have the same "clout".
