@gordianknot6867 I agree to an extent. On the one hand, designating something a "hate crime" does give it an unwarranted special status. However, the main beef I have with what's described as a "hate crime" in contemporary Britain is that in a lot of cases, it's debatable whether a "crime" has actually occurred. The recipient of the alleged "hate" only has to perceive that they've been "hated" in order to pursue it as a crime. This is what distinguishes it from "regular" crime...the fact that it's so open to abuse.

@russpaxman3660 True. Look at that little black kid who got stabbed in Birmingham last week...the MSM couldn't fall over themselves fast enough to point it that it was a "racist attack". I doubt they would have made such a fuss if it had been a black-on-black incident.

@russpaxman3660 I work in a couple of charity shops, and I always shudder inwardly when a black person walks in...not because I'm racist, but because there's always a certain tension about whether they're going to try and get something for nothing, and whether they're going to turn hostile and play the race/victim card when you deny them something for nothing. No other group of people behaves in this manner.
