You see this kind of trend across all facets of Left-Wing quasi-academia: deliberately impenetrable and exclusionary language. It's one of the techniques the political Left employs in order to hang on to what it sees as its sole right to make social policy and control "The Narrative". It's to make sure the "wrong" kind of people don't get a look-in. It also serves a secondary purpose of making the fairly simplistic concepts expressed appear more "erudite" and "weighty" than they actually are. I think this is a form of self-delusion to make the authors of such works imagine that they're "mighty intellects".
