If some weirdo wants to pull on a pair of knickers and a Halloween wig and call himself "Laverne", that's his business. However, such a person is not a woman, and it's not up to the BBC to try and persuade us otherwise. This is one of the many reasons why I refuse to pay the licence fee.

Agreed. Historians of the future are going to look back on Right Now as a very strange period epoch indeed. Hopefully, it will be cited as a cautionary tale of what happens when a society declines to such a degree that it allows freaks to call the shots...

@paulsouthall2731 I'll admit that I was nervous of the repercussions when I first stopped paying it. However, it's been about 3 years now, and all that's happened is that every few weeks I get one of about 3 or 4 "stock" threatening letters promising "investigations" and "visits by enforcement officers". It never goes any further than that. I have seen neither hide nor hair of an "enforcement officer"...and if I did my front door would be firmly closed in their face. They can't do anything unless they catch you red handed watching live TV.

@gpw203 I imagine the parents of such a f'd up person probably had a big role in the f'ing up process, and are hence pretty weird themselves...
