  2. Jurors should determine someone's guilt or innocence based on analysis of the facts of the case, not on their "consciences". It's this kind of thinking that allowed the Colston statue topplers to walk free when they were patently guilty of the crime. Actually, I think "conscience" had very little bearing on that case...it was more "implied threat" from "woke" fanatics with the power to "cancel" that influenced the jury.

  4.  @richardhale9664  Respectfully, you are wrong on this point. The sole job of the jury is to determine whether the suspect is guilty of the crime with which they are accused. It is not the job of the jury to decide whether they were "justified" in committing the crime or not. The jury is not involved at all in determining the "harshness" of the sentence...this is the job of the judge. In a democracy, the government is beholden to the judgment of the courts (IE, the government is not "above the law"). The way our democracy is going wrong at present is not "tyrannical government", but because there are too many "politicised", "activist" lawyers who know exactly how to hamper the government through the use of the courts.
