I think it's pretty obvious to most people by now that one of two things is happening: 1) Boris and the Government as a whole are completely out of their depth and simply don't understand the numbers and charts being thrown at them by SAGE...largely as a result of them all being lawyers, classicists and sociologists and completely devoid of anyone actually numerate...hence the continual and increasingly unconvincing recourse to the stock phrase "The science tells us...". 2) SAGE is producing deliberately misleading figures because their motives are not honourable...someone somewhere is doing very nicely out of ramping up the Fear Factor.
