With Trudeau gone, this makes Starmer about the only remaining Socialist leader in the Western World, doesn't it? Hopefully, the political isolation will hasten the demise of the dreadful British government.

The real tragedy is that we in Britain had it all 15 years before Trudeau came to power, in the form of Tony "More Damage Than World War 2" Blair. A great shame Canada didn't learn from our mistake... ...actually, it's a great shame we didn't learn from our mistake, since we've just voted in a virtually identical government!

Now that Sweden has got a sensible government in power, they've managed to slash their illegal immigration numbers. They've done this by simply denying a lot of the things to the migrants that they believed they were "entitled" to, and have hence reduced the "draw factor" of the country. Please take note, Yvette and Sir Keir.

Starmer might go fairly soon, but I'm afraid there's a lot more pain to be endured before we get rid of Labour...

@jimjones-bk2is Just shows how out of touch with reality The Left actually is...

@alaninsoflo He only has a huge majority "on paper". The Labour Party is rife with internal division...his own people may well call for a vote of no confidence before too long.

@GregoryTheGr8ster God help us all if he is a "new beginning". Starmer was voted in the strength of "not being a Tory", not because the British public were particularly enthused by his policies (as demonstrated by the fact that public support for the government has absolutely plummeted in 6 months)...I don't think this really gives him much of a "mandate"...let alone a mandate to pursue radical policies.

@Sir-Kenbarlow-GCSE-KFC-BAR Macron's only a figurehead now, and will soon be gone. The legislature of France is firmly in the hands of the right.
