I think the fall of apartheid in South Africa was one of the worst things that ever befell Britain...when it happened, several thousand Left Wing British "activists" suddenly found they had too much time on their hands, and had to look elsewhere for their "jollies"... I'd never even heard of Mary Seacole until a few years ago. Whilst I'm sure she was a very worthy individual, I suspect her contributions to history have been "bigged up" in order to suit a certain "narrative".
