  2. Microsoft did a study on this a few years ago. Women in STEM are more prominent in Asia and Eastern Europe. Western Europe, UK and US have notoriously low levels of women in STEM. Through culture and absence of choice. Lack of representation plays very little into it - they found that girls actually were more into STEM during childhood, but as soon as they reach teenage years, it drops off significantly.
