Victor Gruen inspired a TV show here in Australia called "The Gruen Transfer". It had a presenter who was a comedian and the show was about how advertising and marketing works to scam you out of your money. https://youtu.be/A0W2UkR-6tE?si=NAb7dkzLf5RGywK2 I'm one of the rare Gen X'ers who didn't hang out at the mall. I hated the place. I hung out at the library as I was a bookworm and I was (still am today at 53) anti establishment. My entire life, starting as a teenager, I've avoided trends, fads, fashion, the latest "thing", propaganda etc. It's just something that's always been with me. For example, in 1983 I was 13 when Star Wars first appeared. I never went to see it and if I ever walked past boys playing with action figures I would pity them and think how sad they didn't know they were being marketed to. No one taught me to think this way. Like I said, it's always just been there my whole life.
